well it's easy to add an email field
And check to make sure the address in valid form when submitted. Making sure the address exists is a bit more work, but you can do it (http://www.zend.com/zend/spotlight/ev12apr.php).
However, you still won't know if it's the user's own address without sending a confirmation email, which is more trouble than most users will go through just to post a message.
